PCRM Finds Buffalo Chicken Contains Fecal Matter

Independent tests performed by the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine reveal 63 percent of retail chicken products sold in Buffalo, NY are tainted with fecal matter. After purchasing chicken products from 10 retail stores in the area and sending them to an independent testing laboratory in Chicago, IL, more than half of the chicken tested positive for generic E. coli. The wings, breasts, thighs, and legs, which were purchased from PriceRite, Target, Dash’s Market, Save-A-Lot, and TOPS, included meat brands Tyson and Perdue. PCRM also surveyed more than 300 Buffalo residents in August and found that 62 percent were unaware of the fact that feces can be found in store-bought chicken. The health organization has since launched a billboard campaign in the area, which reads, “It’s a Crapshoot: Feces Taints 50% of Buffalo Chicken.”
