Popular Houston Bakery Now Offers Vegan Options

Houston’s Crave Cupcakes has been baking up a sugary storm for more than five years, and has just announced the addition of gluten-free, sugar-free, and vegan cupcakes to its permanent menu. The bakery debuted a red velvet cupcake as its first plant-based offering, and according to The Houston Press, “Crave has done an excellent job creating the same tasty red velvet cake without dairy and eggs.” The cruelty-free cupcake is made with Texas red cocoa, non-hydrogenated vegetable oil, and soy-based cream cheese, and is available daily at both Houston locations. In addition to the rapidly growing vegan options in the city, Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recently made a notable push forward for animal welfare, teaming up with Texas A&M University to create the nation’s largest and most comprehensive animal medical program.
