Global sportswear company Puma is making good on its promises to go green with the launch of InCycle, a new line of recyclable and biodegradable clothes, shoes, and accessories. Puma Supervisory Board Chairman Jochen Zeitz spoke to Clean Energy & Carbon Brief about its goals to fully phase out leather. “The limitation is getting material that is more sustainable at the same cost or even at a better price … It’s just a matter of time before it kicks in with consumers in the fashion industry,” said Zeitz. The new InCycle Basket trainer has biodegradable plastic soles, a cotton and linen upper, and reduces Puma’s greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by not using suede.
