In a study commissioned by the UK’s Food Standards Agency, scientists from the University of East Anglia have released a report that outlines the foods people should cut back on in order to decrease greenhouse gas emissions. By analyzing data of the environmental effects of different foods, the report recommends reducing consumption of beef and cheese, as well as sugar, coffee, and tea. The report also recommends that public bodies such as schools and hospitals should lead a change in national UK eating habits by serving foods that had little greenhouse gas emissions. Other recommendations included eating fruits and vegetables that are in season.
