For the third year, Houston will host the 2013 VegFest Houston––a celebration of compassionate living that features vegan cuisine, discussions of animal welfare, and the promotion of eco-friendly businesses. The Vegan Society of People for the Earth, Animals, Compassion & Enlightenment puts on the festival each year with its mission of “promoting an ethical, compassionate, and sustainable world for all,” the organization writes on the event website. The festivities will take place at Pershing Middle School and will feature talks such as “Going Vegan and Staying Diverse in the Nation’s Most Diverse City” as well as guest speakers such as Dr. Baxter Montgomery and fitness guru Amber Callahan.
