Plant-based diets are gaining universal appeal among the population as a growing body of studies reveals the plethora of health benefits that comes with going cruelty-free. Time magazine listed seven of these benefits in an online article that it posted earlier this week on the Health and Family section of its website. The publication cites a study that was recently published in the journal JAMA International that looks at seven clinical studies and 32 other studies published between 1900 and 2013, showing that those who go meat-free have lower blood pressure. The article also reports that vegetarians are at a lower risk of death, experience better overall mood states, have less of chance of dying of heart disease, are lower risk for developing cancer and diabetes, and are less likely to be overweight.
