Vegan Grocery Store to Open in Toronto
Good Rebel will sell plant-based meat, cheese, and other convenience foods.
September 16, 2016
A new all-vegan grocery store is set to open in Toronto this month. Good Rebel, which calls itself “Toronto’s vegan grocer,” will be selling plant-based meat, cheese, milk, seafood, and eggs, as well as convenient grab-and-go meals. Founders Mercedes Featherby and Mohseen Akbarali created the store with animal welfare as a driving force, and ”a desire to disrupt cruel and unsustainable food production.” Good Rebel is the latest addition to an already-diverse vegan scene in Toronto, a city that is home to multiple vegan restaurants such as Feel Good Guru and Doomie’s, food trucks The Vegan Extremist and Sweet Teeth, and the annual Toronto Veg Food Fest. Good Rebel will begin selling its products online in 2017.
