Director Kevin Smith—known for his films Chasing Amy, Clerks, and as his role one half of duo “Jay and Silent Bob”—revealed he no longer consumes animal products. Smith survived a “widowmaker” heart attack last month and, shortly thereafter, announced via social media that he was considering transitioning to a plant-based diet. “I’ll never eat the way I used to,” Smith said during a recent episode of his podcast “Hollywood Babble-On.” Smith has consumed only potatoes since his heart attack and plans to transition to include other plant-based foods. “My kid is thrilled because she’s a vegan,” Smith said about his daughter Harley Quinn Smith. “This doesn’t come from a personal philosophy. This comes from an ‘I have to.’ I don’t know if I call myself a vegan—maybe a non-animal eater.”
