January is traditionally the month that includes the much-anticipated Restaurant Week, an idea that initially sprung from data showing that this wintry month tends to be slow for restaurants. To incentivize patronage, chambers of commerce across the nation host city-wide weeklong events, encouraging local restaurants to participate and offer special discounts and menu options. For the second year in a row, Sin City is going all-in—but this time with a twist. Not content with just a Restaurant Week, Las Vegas is hosting an entire Restaurant Month, and despite its buffets of surf and turf, this month-long food celebration is going vegan! Made possible by a collaboration between Las Vegas city guide Vegans, Baby! and the month-long go-vegan campaign Veganuary, this newest effort toward veganizing a whole city proves that there’s no better time to book a trip to Vegas than now. Put these vegan-friendly menus on your “must-eat” list, and get yourself to Vegas immediately.

1. Vegan Pizza Tour
Check off four exceptional vegan-friendly pizza places and explore downtown all in one afternoon. Diana Edelman, founder of the city’s comprehensive vegan guide, Vegans, Baby!, will lead a two-hour walking tour to show off some of the city’s best plant-based pizza pies. The exclusive tour will be held on January 19, and reservations are required. For the gluten-intolerant, a gluten-free tour will be held the following day, January 20.

2. Border Grill at Mandalay Bay
While Border Grill is not a vegan restaurant, it has created a special plant-based menu just for the month of Veganuary. Unlike other restaurants, which only provide one or two vegan options, Border Grill’s Veganuary menu offers plant-based patrons an array of options, from appetizers to entrees and even dessert. We’re eyeing the Spanish Root Vegetable Tamale, Vegan Rello, Smoked Tofu Enchiladas, and the Mexican Chocolate Sorbet. We suggest going with a group of four or more to try it all!

3. POTs
Experience a new cuisine in Las Vegas’ first and only Egyptian eatery. Owned and operated by Iman Haggag, who immigrated to the States in 2006, the food is authentic and always freshly prepared in-house. You haven’t had pita bread until you’ve tried Iman’s, coming out hot and fluffy straight from the oven. She’s offering a four-course prix fixe meal and beverage for $25 during the month. The menu includes Falafel Samosas, Salata Baldi, your choice of eggplant or chickpea stew with rice, and two dessert options. Las Vegas is all about taking risks and trying something new; you’ll win with POTs every single time.

4. Forte Tapas
This popular European-style small plate restaurant offers a generous amount of vegan options on its regular menu, which means the chef knows his way around plant-based cuisine. We’re drooling over its elaborate Veganuary menu and seriously considering making multiple reservations to try it all. Just a few options include Mixed Wild Mushrooms, Rosemary Flatbread, Vareniki (potato dumplings), Porcini-dusted Beignets, and Gyuvech (a traditional Bulgarian stew). Pro tip: Walk or Lyft to the restaurant; you won’t want to pass up the impressive libations selection.

5. STACK
Vegans can find more than just vegetable sides at this classic Las Vegas steakhouse. The plant-friendly fine dining restaurant has created some tantalizing, limited-edition dishes just for Veganuary. Options include the Smoked Leek and Potato Soup, Vegan Chicken Piccata, Cauliflower with Capers and Lemon, and more. Win some extra cash at a casino, then head over and try everything (or bring friends and divide and conquer).

Note: A portion of the proceeds from all participating Las Vegas Veganuary menus will benefit the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
