Washington-based brand Good PLANeT Foods recently announced the debut of its vegan cheese line designed to be used in the food service sector to offer consumers vegan pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. “Several large national chains have already begun using our amazing product in their menu offerings, citing a superior flavor and melt when compared to the competition,” the brand said in a statement. The brand currently offers its vegan cheeses in 27.5-pound blocks and 4.4-pound bags in mozzarella, cheddar, smoked mozzarella, parmesan, hot pepper, feta, and American styles, and plans to launch vegan cream cheese next. In recent years, companies have developed vegan cheeses that rival their animal-based counterparts in flavor and texture, as evidenced by a growing list of international chains that have added a vegan cheese option to their menus, including Australian branches of Domino’s, United Kingdom locations of Pizza Hut, and nearly all locations of Piola in the United States.
