New York-based organic coffee chain Jack’s Stir Brew debuted a new vegan menu late last month. Jack’s has served vegan baked goods since 2012 such as doughnuts and muffins, but expanded its food menu to include plant-based lunch options such as a vegan muffuletta with tempeh, an Asian-inspired soba bowl with tofu, avocado toast with sprouts, and gazpacho with tomato, red bell pepper, cucumber, and shallots. Jack Mazzola opened the first location of Jack’s Stir Brew in 2003, when he created a patented machine that stirs coffee grounds during the brewing process to evenly distribute flavors. “As we’ve grown, people have looked to us for more than just great coffee,” Mazzola told VegNews. “Since opening our vegan bakery in 2012, we’ve gotten a lot of requests to offer more food, so when we started talking about introducing a grab-n-go menu it was a very natural decision to go vegan.” Mazzola currently operates eight locations of Jack’s Stir Brew in New York City and Long Island, NY, and plans to open a total of 25 locations within four years. “Now that we’re on the eve of a period of expansion,” Mazzola said, “we want people to know they can count on us to fuel their healthy lifestyles without compromise.
