A 13-year-old Australian boy named Jack recently donated all of his birthday money to a farm animal sanctuary after visiting with rescued pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, cows, horses, rabbits, and sheep. On Facebook, Jack’s aunt Ruth Robinson wrote that Jack “is a kind, thoughtful, caring, smart, funny young man. Sometimes when I despair of the world we live in at present, I think of Jack and his contemporaries and feel hopeful for the future.” Jack is just one of many millennials making a difference for farm animals around the world. Whether speaking out against meat-eating to combat climate change, petitioning school districts to offer vegan options in cafeterias, or founding their own nonprofits to lobby for stronger animal protection laws, today’s teens are taking farmed animal advocacy to a whole new level.
