Democrat and Chronicle recently reported an increasing number of commercial breweries and at-home brewers are making cruelty-free beers, in addition to ones without gluten. As more people have gone vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free for various reasons including health, the environment, and ethics, breweries all over the world have been testing out different beer concoctions to suit all dietary needs. One of the breweries featured in the article is Squatters Brewery of Salt Lake City, UT, which uses mineral-based clarifiers instead of fish bladders in its beers—many of which are organic. Vermont-based Otter Creek Brewing Co. was also mentioned for creating vegan-friendly beers for more than a decade.
