North American plant-based meat market to hit $6.6 billion by 2033, says new report

A new report from Research and Markets projects that the North American plant-based meat market will more than double in size, reaching $6.6 billion by 2033, up from $2.6 billion in 2024. The growth is being fueled by rising consumer awareness around health, wellness, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, the growing variety of plant-based products on store shelves is helping drive up mainstream adoption. The report highlights Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat as key players leading this expansion.

Mr. Charlie’s and Seasoned Vegan collaborate on a private event in NYC

Seasoned Vegan Real Quick, a cherished New York plant-based restaurant, recently shut its doors due to rising rent, leaving many fans heartbroken. Among them was Mr. Charlie’s, a rising plant-based fast-food brand, which stepped in to offer financial support in an attempt to save the space. Though the effort came too late to prevent the closure, something meaningful emerged from the setback: a new collaboration. The two teams came together for a recent private event in New York City, with Seasoned Vegan’s Chef Brenda and Aaron Beener back in the kitchen, serving love and soul to the community. Could this be the beginning of something bigger? 

Selena Gomez’s new Oreo are vegan

Selena Gomez is officially teaming up with Oreo for her own limited-edition flavor. The singer and actor has collaborated with the iconic cookie brand to launch a horchata-inspired Oreo, featuring layers of chocolate, cinnamon, and sweetened condensed milk flavor—and yes, the cookies are vegan. The new Oreo cookie is available via presale on June 2, and will officially hit stores on June 9.

Chobani buys Daily Harvest

Yogurt company Chobani has acquired Daily Harvest, a plant-based brand that specializes in smoothies, breakfast bowls, and pre-prepared savory meals, for an undisclosed sum. Daily Harvest’s founder, Rachel Drori, praised the collaboration on social media. She posted on LinkedIn: “Chobani is the perfect home for Daily Harvest—our missions align so deeply, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue growing together.”

Meli is the first 100 percent quinoa-based beer in the US

The very first quinoa beer has launched in the US. Developed by MIT food scientists, Meli is also gluten-free, vegan, and contains no added sugar. “In a world where alcohol has become a bad word, I hope Meli shows that there’s a way to thoughtfully indulge,” founder Samara Oster told Food & Wine. She added: “My goal is to offer something that doesn’t leave you feeling gross afterward—no gluten, no sugar, no unnecessary additives. Just clean ingredients and a beer that feels as good as it tastes.” Meli is available in select stores across Massachusetts and can be ordered directly from its website.

So Delicious heads to Lollapalooza 2025

So Delicious is set to showcase a new pop-up, called “The Pint of No Return,” at Lollapalooza this year. The immersive event will invite festival-goers into a multi-sensory adventure featuring a walk-in cooler, plenty of photo opportunities, and surprises.

“Through our multi-sensory brand experience at Lollapalooza, we’ll inspire a new generation of delight-seekers to rethink what dairy-free can be and to experience what it means to Dairy Free Your Mind with So Delicious,” said Virginia Kelly, Vice President of Plant-Based Foods for Danone North America, which owns So Delicious. 

Over 40 brands team up on the Meat Free Made Easy campaign

VFC, Meatless Farm, and Clive’s Purely Plants have joined forces with over 40 leading UK brands to launch the Meat Free Made Easy social media and press campaign. The initiative is designed to make meat-free cooking seem easy and accessible, and will include influencer collaborations and Instagram posts. Later in the year, the campaign will involve in-store activations, too. The new campaign was inspired by research from Plant Futures, HarrisX, and the Good Food Institute Europe, which found that more than half of British adults want to eat fewer animal products.

UK’s number one sausage roll company launches new vegan products

The UK’s top sausage roll brand, Wall’s, has launched two new vegan products, a Vegan Peppered Steak Slice and a Vegan Chicken & Mushroom Slice, in Tesco stores. The launch follows the success of its first vegan product, the Wall’s Vegan Sausage Roll. Jason Manley, Brand Director at Wall’s parent company The Compleat Food Group, said: “We’ve seen brilliant momentum behind our Vegan Sausage Roll, and it’s clear there’s a real appetite for high-quality plant-based versions of familiar favorites.”

Hy-Vee adds Blackbird’s plant-based pizzas

In the US, Hy-Vee supermarkets in the Midwest have added vegan pizzas from Blackbird Foods to the frozen aisle. Now, customers will be able to purchase the New York brand’s Margherita, Supreme, and Pepperoni pizzas from nearly 90 stores in the region. “We’re excited to bring our New York-style pizzas to Hy-Vee shoppers,” said Blackbird Foods co-founder Emanuel Storch in a statement. “Our mission has always been to make restaurant-quality plant-based food more accessible, and this launch is a big step in that direction.”

Massive Attack gig to serve a fully plant-based menu

English trip-hop band Massive Attack will perform this June at Manchester’s Co-Op Live arena—and in a first for the UK’s largest indoor venue, only plant-based food will be served. All seven of the arena’s kitchens will offer vegan options like loaded fries, burgers, and hot dogs, aligning with the band’s efforts to reduce the event’s climate impact. Massive Attack will also travel to the show by train to further cut emissions.
