Famed street artist Banksy unrolled a new piece on the streets of New York City that is helping to bridge the disconnect between the thousands of animals that are killed every day on factory farms and the meat that ends up on Americans’ dinner plates. The art installation features a truck with the words “Farm Fresh Meats” painted on the door. In the back, stuffed animals poke their heads out between wooden slats and make disturbing squeaking noises. A video of the truck driving through the city, showing the piece eliciting concern and disdain from the public, is raising consumer awareness about the price that animals pay when people eat meat.
