NFL Star Maurice Jones-Drew Joins Anti-Fur Effort

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew recently teamed up with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for a photo shoot to advocate against the use of fur in fashion. The image of the NFL star shows him shirtless and tattooed with the words “Ink Not Mink” in bold letters. In an interview with PETA, Jones notes that his canine companions spurred his decision to get involved with the anti-fur campaign. “I have three dogs, and to see some of the videos or go online and research how animals are treated for fur, the cruelty is worse than torture,” he says. “NFL players … can [spread] awareness that animals have lives and souls and they go through pain and suffering just as humans do.” Other hard-hitting sports stars who have a soft spot for animals who have taken part in PETA campaigns include Tito Ortiz, Michael Strahan, and Aaron Curry.
