It’s not hard to find a pizza chain in the US that offers vegan cheese. You’ll find dairy-free pies at chains like Mod Pizza, Blaze Pizza, Mellow Mushroom, Papa Murphy’s, and Fresh Brothers, to name a few examples. But if you wanted to order vegan cheese from the biggest pizza chain in the country? No dice, unfortunately. Domino’s has yet to add vegan cheese to its US menu.
You can get a vegan pizza at Domino’s; just order a cheeseless pizza topped with vegetables. But campaigners hope that one day, dairy-free cheese will make it onto the menu, too. In fact, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recently purchased stock in Domino’s to encourage the fast-food giant to roll out vegan cheese nationwide.

The animal rights organization’s president, Tracy Reiman, said: “With this stock purchase, PETA is taking its plea for delicious vegan cheese straight to Domino’s boardroom.” The organization also currently has a petition directed at the chain.
Could Domino’s US actually add vegan cheese to the menu?
The demand is there for vegan cheese in the US. In 2024, a report from the Plant Based Foods Institute (PBFI) used data from retail giant Kroger to conclude that around 7.8 million households are choosing more plant-based products. Sales of plant-based milk and cheese, in particular, were on the rise.
“Shoppers that are either new to, maintaining, or increasing their spend in plant-based categories had the highest engagement with plant-based milk, plant-based cheese, and plant-based refrigerated meat,” Linette Kwon, Consumer Insights and Data Analyst at PBFI, told VegNews.
So, can campaigners really make a difference to Domino’s menu? Perhaps.
Just last year, a separate PETA campaign targeted Starbucks, urging the coffee giant to drop its dairy-free milk surcharge. Actor and activist James Cromwell even superglued himself to a Starbucks counter in protest against the extra cost.

Starbucks didn’t address the stunt directly, but in October 2024, it announced it was finally ending all dairy-free milk surcharges. Starbucks CEO and chairman Brian Niccol said in a statement at the time: “By removing the extra charge for non-dairy milks, we’re embracing all the ways our customers enjoy their Starbucks.”
With growing demand for plant-based options and successful campaigns at other major chains, the possibility of vegan cheese at Domino’s US locations doesn’t seem so far-fetched. After all, there is already significant precedent: the chain currently offers dairy-free cheese in markets like the UK, Germany, Australia, and Spain. It could be only a matter of time before the US joins the club.
