The Humane Society of the United States and psychologist Jana Kohl have urged Kohl’s stores to cease its sale of fur products. Jana is the granddaughter of Kohl’s founder and is also an animal activist who has facilitated campaigns to end puppy mills. “It brings me great sadness that my family name is now associated with the fur business … I call on Kohl’s to be a corporate leader, showing concern for the environment, social responsibility and humane practices,” says Kohl, as quoted by the HSUS. The source also points out that Kohl’s has issued vague statements as to whether it carries fur products, and by taking them off the shelves the company could avoid consumer confusion.
