UK Burger Kings Admit to Contaminated Burgers

Until recently, UK Burger King sourced its burger patties from the Irish processing company Silvercrest, which is guilty of using unapproved ingredients in its products. After denying its burgers were part of the recent Tesco horsemeat scandal, Burger King now admits that horse DNA was found in samples at a Silvercrest facility. Diego Beamonte, vice president of Burger King, told the media, “We are deeply troubled by the findings of our investigations … We will dedicate ourselves to determining what lessons can be learned and what additional measures, including DNA testing and enhancing traceability controls, can be taken.” Burger King has since released a statement saying independent testing concluded none of the contaminated burgers were sold in Burger King stores.
