Subway, the largest global fast food chain, opened its first ever all-vegetarian restaurant in the state of Gujarat, India late last year. Located in Gujarat’s largest city, Ahmedabad, the sandwich company’s menu is not only meatless but also offers pure Jain options free of garlic or onions. Subway’s Gujarati Development Agent Durlabh Singh recently announced the restaurant has plans to open more meat-free locations in the cities of Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Anand, Jamnagar, and Bhavnagar. Subway joins other US fast food chains, such as Domino’s Pizza and McDonalds, in offering meat-free fare in India.
