Acclaimed Los Angeles Vegan Restaurateur Passes Away

Molly Anderson of Los Angeles’ award-winning Madeleine Bistro leaves behind a husband and four children.


On Saturday, October 18, Molly Anderson—co-owner of Los Angeles’ beloved Madeleine Bistro—passed away unexpectedly. Wife of David Anderson (the restaurant’s chef/co-owner, pictured above) and mother of four children, Molly was a tireless animal advocate who played an active role in the Southern California vegan community. Molly and Dave are celebrated business owners who have elevated plant-based cuisine to new heights, dazzling vegetarians, meat-eaters, and the LA food media alike with their innovative, critically acclaimed food. The LAist named Madeleine Bistro one of the 10 best vegetarian restaurants in Los Angeles, and VegNews’ Colleen Holland included it on her list of top 12 vegan meals ever. A memorial fund has been set up to assist the Anderson family during this time.
