Food magazine Bon Appétit has chosen hummus as its dish of the year, highlighting Philadelphia’s Denizgoff as the restaurant that does it best. The publication compiled a list of its favorite hummus flavors from Denizgoff, four of which were vegan and included hummus topped with smoked Spanish paprika, lemony chermoula, and fried chickpeas. This year’s pick is a departure from the food magazine’s normally meat-centric “dishes of the year” such as lamb tartare in 2013 and crudo (or uncooked meat or fish) in 2014. We’re with you, Bon Appétit—hummus is an amazing food!
