Gigi’s Pizzeria—one of Sydney, Australia’s most acclaimed pizzerias—recently announced a new, 100 percent plant-based menu. Revamped to “align with Gigi’s ethics,” owners Marco and Daniela Matino say they made the switch to vegan pizza after learning more about industrial farming. “The change came about from being aware of how much produce we go through plus all the information I’ve collected about animal agriculture on many different levels,” Marco told Good Food. Though staff says reaction to the announcement has been mixed, the restaurant’s vegan menu relaunch drew massive crowds with lines out the doors. “Our decision was definitely not one made overnight,” a spokesperson said. “It was a change for all the right reasons, so we have absolutely no doubts over the new direction.”
