The Coalition for Healthy School Food (CHSF), an organization responsible for helping the first public schools in the nation become vegetarian, is hosting its annual Fall Gala October 6 in New York City. Emceed by television journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell, the event includes food from Miyoko’s Creamery and Philadelphia restaurant Vedge. Proceeds from the gathering will help the group get vegan entrées in schools, provide nutrition education that includes information on multicultural and plant-based eating patterns, and promote farm-to-school programs. The CHSF also brings guest chefs to underserved students pursuing culinary careers as part of the Visiting Vegan Chef program. Tickets for the CHSF’s Fall Gala are available here.
