A new study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that a diet high in fruit reduces erectile dysfunction by 14 percent. The study compared the intake of flavonoids—phytonutrients found in fruit such as oranges, apples, and berries—to cases of erectile dysfunction in a group of 25,096 men during the course of 10 years and found that men who consumed the most fruit reported fewer issues related to their sex organs. According to recently opened vegan medical center Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, “Erectile dysfunction is typically an indicator of narrowed arteries, the same disease process that causes coronary heart disease,” which is the leading cause of death in the United States.
