Famed vegan chef Matthew Kenney’s Plant Food + Wine is gearing up for a bi-coastal expansion with its second location slated for a February 29 opening in Miami. The restaurant is the latest in a string of openings for Kenney—Plant Food + Wine in Venice, CA, opened earlier last year, and New York City just got its first taste of Kenney’s high-end cuisine with 00+Co pizzeria. Kenney described the latest incarnation to Miami New Times as “the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever worked on.” Eaters can expect dishes such as watermelon poke with ponzu-lime, tamari, macadamia, ginger, and mint; black pepper kelp noodles with sunflower cream and spicy greens; and a coconut sorbet with candied macadamia and basil consommé. Diners who especially love the food can even learn the techniques behind it—Kenney’s own raw vegan culinary academy is nearby.
