Vegan company Earth Balance launched its 2016 Cupcake Challenge to find the best vegan cupcake recipe in the nation. Submissions have been coming in from cupcake enthusiasts with recipes such as Chai Spice Cupcake with Cinnamon, Maple Waffle Bacon Cupcake, and Death by Chocolate Cupcake. The deadline for submission is April 15, and the winner will receive a trip for two to Boulder, CO, a $1,500 Visa gift card, gift certificates to Beet Box Bakery & Café and Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant, and a year’s supply of Earth Balance. Food competitions are engaging ways to reach new audiences, and vegan challenges have had a big year around the country with Philadelphia’s Best Vegan Cheesesteak Contest, San Francisco’s Vegan Iron Chef, and New York City’s Vegan Mac Throwdown.
