Detroit Vegan Soul, a Motor City institution, has announced plans to open a second location in the city’s Grandmont Rosedale area thanks to “overwhelming success” of its first restaurant. The plant-based eatery—which serves fare such as macaroni and cheese, smoked collard greens, maple-glazed yams, and “catfish” tofu sandwiches—was recently named one of the hottest vegan destinations by CNN and was voted “best soul food in Detroit” (beating out omnivorous competition) by Detroit Metro Times. Detroit Vegan Soul further establishes itself as a conscientious company by sourcing fresh ingredients from local urban farmers and distributing its compostable food waste back to farms for crop fertilization. The restaurant’s second location is slated for a December opening.
