Popular British and Irish pub and hotel chain, JD Wetherspoon, debuted a fully vegan menu certified by The Vegan Society at all of its 972 locations. “We’re overjoyed that UK high street chains are taking note of the rise in veganism by improving their vegan options, and it’s only getting better,” says Trademark Relations Officer Abigail Stevens of The Vegan Society. The new menu will be clearly labeled and will include items such as Vegetable Samosas, Sweet Potato & Chickpea Curry, British Bramble apple crumble, and the “Naked” Burrito for their Mexican Mondays special. “Working alongside JD Wetherspoon to develop their vegan menu means that up and down the country, you can walk into one of their many establishments and enjoy hearty, affordable, accessible, and tasty plant-based food,” Stevens says. On the other side of the world, Sydney, Australia welcomed its first vegan pub last week.
