New vegan eatery Beelman’s opened this week in downtown Los Angeles. Shuttered Beelman’s Pub—that previously specialized in steaks and oysters—re-opened with a plant-based menu that features Asian-inspired dishes crafted by chef Carolina Chona. The eatery is the first from restaurateur alliance Artisanal Brewers Collective (ABC), which is co-founded by Tony Yanow of vegan-friendly, craft beer-focused Los Angeles eatery Tony Dart’s Away. “Tony’s Darts Away is where it all started,” Concha said, “where I grew and where I learned everything I know about plant-based food. I am thrilled to bring a redefined plant-based pub experience to downtown LA, creating a casual environment where both the beverage program and plant-based fare can share the spotlight.” The new menu features dishes such as the Adobong Mani (toasted peanuts with garlic and chili), Mr. Togarashi (crispy chickpeas tossed with shichimi togarashi, and gochujang), Viet Nom Nom Wrap (citrus “spare rib” cutlets, rice, green papaya, pickled daikon, carrots, Thai basil, cilantro, and Romaine), and a vegan burger featuring the Impossible Burger patty completed with chipotle aioli, tomato, greens, spicy ketchup, and pickles on a brioche bun, along with a new vegan bar program.
