Luxury clothing labels Joie, Equipment, and Current/Elliot will no longer use fur in their lines. Parent company Dutch agreed to remove fur from its brands—which are sold at 2,000 retail outlets in 75 countries—after the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) pressured the company to do so. “By banning fur from all its brands,” PETA director Anne Brainard said, “Dutch is taking a stand against caging, electrocuting, and beating beautiful animals for jackets and scarves.” While many fashion brands continue to use other animal products such as leather and wool, fur has been successfully phased out of several other big brands recently including H&M, Calvin Klein, and Armani, amongst many others.
