Obama Scolds Trump for Letting Schools Serve Junk

Former First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at the recent Building a Healthier Future Summit in Washington DC where she expressed her concern over the Trump administration’s attempts to reinstate unhealthy foods to the National School Lunch Program. “This is where you have to look at motives,” Obama said, “Why do you not want our kids to have good food at school?” adding, emphatically, “What is wrong with you?” Recently, the newly appointed Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue reinstated sugary milk on the National School Lunch menu—an animal product banned under the Obama administration. “Like me or don’t like me,” Obama continued, “but think about why someone is okay with your kids eating crap. Why would you celebrate that? Because here is the secret: If somebody is doing that, they don’t care about your kid.” Similarly, former President Barack Obama gave the keynote speech at this month’s Seed & Chips Global Food Innovation Summit in Italy wherein he made the connection between animal agriculture and climate change and urged people to reduce their meat consumption.
