Veggie Rebellion will open Arizona’s first all-vegan grocery store. The husband and wife founders, Dylan and Sandra Mckee, secured a lease on a 1,000 square-foot space in Glendale—which is located near Phoenix. “We hope to put Arizona on the food map for vegans,” Sandra McKee told VegNews. “There are lots of conventions and visitors, and we want to support those visitors as well as our hometown vegan community. We want to serve as a hub for the plant-based lifestyle.” The store will carry cheese from Miyoko’s Kitchen, and meat and cheese alternatives from Field Roast and The Herbivorous Butcher, among other products. The duo is working with local vendors to provide grab-and-go sandwiches and salads, and eventually hope to have in-store seating. The couple is working with the city to meet all business-compliance regulations and plans to open in the coming weeks. Several vegan grocery stores have opened in recent months across the world—including Orchard Grocer, which opened next door to vegan retail shop MooShoes in New York City in March.
