Vegan egg replacer JUST Egg will debut in Southeast Asia on November 1 (World Vegan Day) at the Oasis restaurant inside 677-room Grand Hyatt hotel in Singapore. The mung bean-based vegan egg will be served as a patty inside the Just Egg Sandwich which features vegan cheddar, tomato chutney, guacamole, alfalfa sprouts, and a dairy-free brioche bun. The sandwich launch will be supported by several promotional events, including a Just Egg food truck serving the new sandwich in the hotel’s driveway and a vegan barbecue buffet at the hotel’s poolside restaurant featuring the egg replacer prepared as futomaki sushi roll. Rakesh Jain, Chief Business Development Officer at JUST, will participate in the hotel’s “The Future of Food” panel discussion about the environmental impact of food production. “Singapore is one of the most innovative and transformative places on the planet and is known worldwide as Asia’s greenest city,” JUST CEO Josh Tetrick said. “We’re proud to bring JUST Egg to its citizens and visitors with Grand Hyatt as our first partner and with gratitude to everyone who helped us achieve this milestone.” JUST launched the vegan egg replacer at a single restaurant in San Francisco last year before expanding the product to retailers nationwide last month. According to a recent report, JUST Egg outsold all of its category competitors—such as chicken egg-based Egg-Beaters—at a major retailer after one week of being on the shelves.
