Vegan brand Gardein will debut on January 2 exclusively at Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the United Kingdom. The brand will launch a number of its meat alternatives in the frozen department, including Mandarin Orange Crispy Chik’n, Sizzling Szechuan Beefless Strips, Seven Grain Crispy Tenders, Golden Fishless Filets, and Classic Meatless Meatballs. “We’re bringing a whole new world of vegan-friendly food to the UK very soon,” the brand announced on its newly launched GardeinUK Instagram account. “Our awesome plant-based alternatives are good for you and good for the planet, too!” In 2014, Gardein’s parent company Garden Protein International was acquired for $155 million by conglomerate Pinnacle Foods. In 2016, the brand transferred its production facilities from Canada to the United States—a move that allowed the vegan brand to expand its distribution beyond North America.
