New York City-based vegan brand Milk Makeup announced its first collaboration this week with iconic band Wu-Tang Clan. The Wu-Tang x Milk Makeup collection features eight vegan lipsticks in rich matte, shine, and glitter finishes housed in a container that features a gold sculpted dragon and is embossed with Wu Tang’s ubiquitous “W.” “Beyond the common denominator of Wu’s and Milk’s NYC cultural background, I’m excited about this collaboration for the ‘yin,’ or feminine energy, that it invokes,” Wu-Tang member and longtime vegan RZA said. “Milk Makeup has been bold in creating beauty products with unique ingredients. This collab dives deeper into that realm, and I’m sure will inspire the wisdom, beauty, and strength of today’s modern warriors.” To promote the collaboration, Milk Makeup released a video campaign—created in Wu-Tang’s signature Shaolin Kung Fu-inspired style—featuring actress and singer Teyana Taylor who portrays a “Wu Warrior” and urges viewers to “enter the realm.” Earlier this year, Wu-Tang collaborated with fast-food chain White Castle to promote vegan Impossible Sliders through a galactic themed campaign that featured Kal Penn—who played “Kumar” in the cult-classic film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.
