Television program 60 Minutes Australia will air a segment tonight at 7pm entitled, “Ship of Shame.” The exposé focuses on the cruelty behind Australia’s practice of long-distance, live-transport sheep for slaughter in the Middle East. “Ship of Shame” features footage compiled by a whistleblower aboard a live-transport ship who decided to submit the video clips because he could no longer keep the suffering of animals a secret. The exclusive footage depicts sheep panting for air in filthy, cramped conditions aboard the ship and deceased lambs being thrown overboard. The teaser for the segment was released last week and sparked Australia’s Federal Agricultural Minister to launch an investigation into the practice.
