Canada’s first all-vegan vending machine launched this month in British Columbia with menu items from The Green Moustache Organic Café. Located in a sports center in Whistler, British Columbia, the machine offers 100-percent organic, gluten-free, plant-based dishes such as buddha bowls, collard wraps, nut-free granola bars, and vegan cheesecakes. “Unlike the traditional vending machine model, we are restocking daily with freshly prepared meals and snacks,” The Green Moustache Chief Strategy Officer Geoff Telfer said. “We believe these modern vending machines are an efficient and sustainable way to expand our reach and to further our mission of bringing health-promoting, nutritious food to every neighborhood.” If this machine is successful, The Green Moustache plans to place vending machines in hospitals, schools, and sports centers across Canada, starting in Vancouver as its first major-city experiment. Last year, several vegan vending machines were spotted around the world, including one from San Francisco-based startup leCupboard.
