Domino’s Pizza locations in the Netherlands and Belgium will add Vegan Margarita, BBQ Vegan, and Spicy Vegan pizza options on April 30. Prior to launching the new plant-based line, Domino’s reformulated its standard crust, which previously contained whey, to be free of animal products as part of its “Clean Menu Policy.” The pizza chain worked with the Dutch Society for Veganism (DSV) to develop the new pizza options, which will now bear the “Vegan Quality Mark.” DSV spokesperson Debby van Velzen believes that veganism has grown too large in the region to ignore. “The demand for plant products can no longer be stopped now that more and more people are discovering that you can live perfectly without animal products,” van Velzen said. “Innovative companies are responding to these changes.” Domino’s Australia took a similar route in January when it launched a line of vegan pizzas made with Follow Your Heart’s vegan cheese—a menu item that consistently sold out since its launch.
