North Tonawanda’s first all-vegan market The Vegan Grocery Store opened last month near Niagara Falls. The store features the tagline “No need to read ingredient lists here, we’ve already done it for you!” and offers plant-based products such as Field Roast Mini Corn Dogs, Miyoko’s Kitchen vegan cheese, Califia Farms creamer, gluten- and nut-free foods, cruelty-free cosmetics, and vegan cleaning products. Founders Gabrielle Richards, her husband Jason Richards, and her mom Judith Mittiga, hope to offer local produce and grab-and-go items when they find a local distributor. The founders launched the store in their own community to support small companies and revitalize the city’s business district. “We have been involved with the vegan community for over 14 years, so we know the struggle of vegan grocery shopping,” Gabrielle Richards told VegNews. “This way, vegans can come to one shop and we have it all.” In recent months, several all-vegan grocery stores have opened around the world, including Veggie Rebellion in Arizona and Vegan Aisle in Australia.
