Dubai-based dairy brand Kiota Foods will launch a dairy-free line this summer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In June, the brand will debut its oat-based milk and organic almond milk—made with oats and almonds sourced from Italy, with soy- and rice-based alternatives to follow in August. “Everyone’s specific nutrition requirements are different and we don’t believe in a black or white solution for milk,” Koita Foods CEO Mustafa Kiota said. “Plus, we are consumer driven, not farmer driven.” The brand currently distributes its products to 500 retailers and partners including hotels such as the Ritz Carlton and The Four Seasons, and grocery chains such as Waitrose and Carrefour. Veganism is a growing movement in the UAE according to vegan Saudi Arabian Prince Khaled Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, who plans to open a minimum of 10 plant-based restaurants in the region by 2020.
