Grocery chain Trader Joe’s recently debuted dairy-free Unsweetened Almond, Cashew & Macadamia Nut Beverage. According to Brenda Sickles, who operates blog Become Betty, the new plant-based milk retails at $2.99 per 32-ounce carton and is creamy in texture. “In terms of taste, it’s like most other nut milks but probably has the most nut flavor of the bunch,” Sickles said. “You do get small flecks of nut skin in this beverage too to remind you of its origins. The nut flavor is subtle but present. I had mine chilled. It tasted thicker than most of the nut milks.” In recent months, Trader Joe’s has added a number of vegan-friendly items to its shelves, including Miyoko’s Kitchen vegan cheese, an assortment of dairy-free beverages, and the premade Rainbow Wrap made with roasted sweet potatoes, curried hummus, beets, and spinach, and wrapped in a pink-hued flour tortilla.
