California-based fast-casual burrito chain Freebirds World Burrito added Beyond Meat’s pea protein-based beef grounds this week to the menu of its 73 locations. The new menu item is mixed with potatoes and spices to create fillings for made-to-order burritos, burrito bowls, nachos, salads, and tacos. Along with the Beyond Meat filling, various toppings such as rice, beans, roasted garlic, fresh greens, and tortilla strips can be added, in addition to a selection of salsa and dressings. The brand also makes the Beyond Burger, which debuted this month at 925 locations of fast-food chain A&W Canada and, thanks to a new facility that will help Beyond Meat triple its production capacity this year, will soon be available in more than 50 countries.
