Vegan food brand Lightlife’s Smart Tenders Savory Chick’n is now available at grocery chain Trader Joe’s. The product, available in the refrigerated section, was recently discovered when it was posted to Instagram by @traderjoesvegan. Lightlife launched in 1979 as a vegetarian brand. Last year, the company committed to remove all remaining animal products from the brand, shortly before it was acquired by Canadian meat company Maple Leaf Foods for $140 million. In recent months, Trader Joe’s has added a number of vegan products to its stores, including Miyoko’s Un-Lox Your Dreams cream cheese, a Rainbow Wrap in honor of Pride month, and a dairy-free almond, cashew, and macadamia nut beverage.
