Vegan Fur is Kim Kardashian’s “New Thing”

Reality television star Kim Kardashian recently shared a vegan fur coat on her Instagram Story with her 114 million followers. The coat was a gift from fashion brand Givenchy and came with a note from the company’s communications director Youssef Marquis that stated, “My sweet Kim. A little treat for the summer … or the winter. Love ya! PS: It’s all fake.” The star—who has been widely criticized for wearing animal skins in public—stated on social media that faux fur was her “new thing.” Givenchy is not the first to urge Kardashian to ditch animal-derived fur. Last year, actress/vegan activist Pamela Anderson sent Kardashian a letter asking that she use her celebrity platform to discourage the use of fur in fashion. “Kim has a great heart,” Anderson said, “and I know she is a great influencer. She has millions of followers around the world.”
