Ice cream brand Halo Top expanded its vegan line with three new coconut milk-based flavors this week. Mint Fudge Cookie features cookie pieces and fudge swirls; Chocolate Hazelnut is described as “a chocolate-lovers dream” packed with swirls of hazelnuts; and nostalgic Peanut Butter & Jelly includes strawberry jelly swirls throughout and is dotted with bits of cannoli cookies. Halto Top President Doug Bouton said the new vegan flavors are part of the company’s continued goal to innovate its product portfolio, adding, “We think the new non-dairy flavors could be our best yet.” In 2017, Halo Top debuted its vegan line with seven flavors: Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate, Oatmeal Cookie, Sea Salt Caramel, Caramel Macchiato, Cinnamon Roll, and Chocolate Covered Banana. In 2018, the brand expanded the line with seven additional flavors: Toasted Coconut, Vanilla Maple, Pancakes & Waffles, Birthday Cake, Candy Bar, Chocolate Almond Crunch, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Halo Top is one of a number of traditional ice cream brands that have aggressively expanded their vegan options in recent years, including Ben & Jerry’s which now offers nine flavors of almond milk-based ice cream.
