Rental resource Rent.com has named Sarasota, FL the top living destination for vegans in 2019. To create its list of 50 top vegan cities, the platform looked at cities with at least 10 vegan restaurant and 50,000 residents. The selected cities were then ranked based on the average number of vegan restaurants per 100,000 residents. According to Rent.com, Sarasota offers 25.98 vegan restaurants per 100,000 residents. “Whether you’re new to the vegan scene or not, Sarasota offers a plethora of dining options that can offer something delicious for everyone,” the platform describes its top city. “After you’ve paid the bill and are ready to head home, you can settle into a one-bedroom apartment that costs $1,303 on average in Sarasota.” Asheville, NC comes in a close second to Sarasota, with 25.96 vegan restaurants per 100,000 residents, while Santa Monica, CA and Santa Cruz, CA take third and fourth place, respectively. Based on Rent.com’s algorithm, the least vegan-friendly living destinations are Eugene, OR, Miami, FL, and Rochester, NY. When it comes to the most vegan restaurants operating within city limits overall, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles hold the top three spots with 136, 129, and 115 restaurants, respectively.
