California-based vegan brand Before the Butcher recently tripled retail distribution of its Uncut-branded burgers and sausages to more than 320 Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions supermarkets. In the coming months, the products will also make their way into Mariano’s, Pic ‘n Save, Metro Markets, and Copps stores. The Uncut line includes the Burger, Savory Chicken Burger, Roasted Turkey Burger, and Breakfast Sausage Patty. “Our retail footprint is expanding rapidly because retailers recognize the value of offering a plant-based meat brand with four different choices to suit different consumer tastes and provide menu variety,” Before the Butcher president and founder Danny O’Malley said. “We expect to double retail distribution again over the next few months.” Earlier this year, the company made its small-scale detail debut inside the meat counter at a Yorba Linda, CA Bristol Farms supermarket, followed by 192 Ralphs stores in Southern California as well as Whole Foods Market in Long Beach, CA, 10 Central Market locations in Texas, and 40 Lucky’s Markets in 10 states ranging from Colorado to Florida. Before the Butcher also provides the foodservice sector with 12 products, including bulk ground meat, chorizo, pulled pork, ground Italian sausage, chicken chunks, and beef strips, along with burgers and sausage patties.
