This year, British gaming company GAME is offering a vegan version of its Christmas Tinner—a layered Christmas feast stuffed inside a can. Developed for people who spend most of their day playing video games, the Christmas Tinner is layered with breakfast on top, lunch and dinner in the middle, and dessert on the bottom so that gamers never have to leave their chairs on Christmas day. “Gamers will do anything to stay live in-play—not even sex can lure gamers away according to the research with almost half admitting they have turned down their partners in order to continue playing,” a spokesperson for GAME said. The 11-layer vegan Christmas Tinner is packed with nine savory items (from top down): scrambled tofu and tempeh bacon; vegan cheese, olives, and grapes; mushroom Wellington; gravy; bread sauce; peppery vegan pigs in blankets; stuffing; roasted butternut squash, parsnips, and carrots; and spiced red cabbage. The remaining two layers are desserts: custard and chocolate cake. “The original Christmas Tinner has been so popular with gamers over the last several years that this year we’ve been inundated with requests for a vegan or vegetarian alternative,” the spokesperson said. “There are now 3.5 million vegans in the UK and we have had to respond to the shift in consumer behavior habits and demand and make sure our products are appealing to all.”
