A new luxury vegan penthouse is available for purchase for £4.95 million ($6.5 million) inside the Sovereign Court complex in West London. Ethical designer Itala Santos furnished the residence with vegan alternatives to leather and suede, as well as avoided the use of feather down, mohair, wool, and silk in upholstery, bedding, pillows, and throw blankets. “For buyers, the fact the property is vegan is incidental, but I believe strongly in being ethical about the way you do things and to marry that with great design,” Santos told The Telegraph. “There are so many wonderful alternative materials. We look beyond the standard suppliers and use only products that are made in the United Kingdom, so it’s easier to control.” Last month, Hilton Hotels unveiled its first all-vegan suite—complete with cruelty-free beauty and cleaning products, a plant-based room-service menu, and a mini-fridge stuffed with vegan treats—inside the Bankside location in London.
